About Us

The Lehenga Room sells lehengas to the United States, and only lehengas. We

are not a general Indian-clothing store that happens to carry a few.

The shop is run by Sathya Senthil, trading as

Cedar Stone, from India. Our

registered address and phone number are on the

contact page — a real address, in India, because that is where

we are.

Most lehengas sold online to American buyers assume three things: that you

know the vocabulary, that you have a tailor, and that you can convert an

Indian size in your head. A lot of our customers are second-generation

Indian-American, or not Indian at all, and none of those three hold.

So we built the shop around the opposite assumptions:

It has its own place in the menu because it is the point of the shop.

measuring guide that takes two minutes.

We do not manufacture. Our lehengas are bought from Royal Export, a

wholesaler and exporter in Surat, Gujarat, and sent to you directly from

India. We hold no stock: when you order, we place that order with the

supplier by hand.

That is why our range is deliberately narrow and why we would rather tell

you a piece is unavailable than sell you something we cannot get.

We will not tell you a fabric is pure silk when the supplier says

semi-silk. We will not print a measurement we have not been given. Where we

do not know something, this site says we do not know it — which is rarer

than it should be in this trade.
